Versions and ASO fields

Keep a history of your store listing per version and country, with the App Store and Google Play ASO fields and their limits.

Updated · For AppRankHero 1.0.2 on macOS

The Versions tab keeps your store listing for every release and every country. Keyword Discovery reads it, and it shows you what changed when a rank moves.

Add a version

  1. Open an app and select the Versions tab.
  2. Click Add Version and choose:
    • Automatic (or Check for New Version once versions exist): AppRankHero reads the live listing from the store and saves it as a new version.
    • Add Manual Version: you type the version number and the fields yourself, for example to plan the next release.
  3. Check the fields for each country tab, then save.

Use Copy data from... to fill a country with the fields of another country, then change only what differs.

ASO fields

These are the fields AppRankHero keeps for each country. The limits are the store limits in characters. Subtitle, Keywords and Promotional Text, and all Google Play fields, show their limit next to the label.

Store Field Store limit
App Store Name 30
App Store Subtitle 30
App Store Keywords 100
App Store Promotional Text 170
App Store Description 4,000
Google Play Title 30
Google Play Short description 80
Google Play Full description 4,000

The dialog also shows read only details from the store: developer, rating, categories, content rating and price.

Manage versions

Open the menu of a version for Export .txt, Edit version and Delete version. Export .txt gives you every field of every country in one text file, handy for a release checklist.

To check all apps for new store versions at once, go to Settings › About › Version Check and click Check All Versions.

Questions and answers

Why does AppRankHero warn that a version is not available everywhere?

Stores roll out updates country by country. If some countries still show the older version, their fields belong to that version. Wait for the rollout, or edit those countries by hand.

Can I see when a competitor changed its listing?

Yes. Add the competitor under Competitors in the sidebar and use Check for Update in its Versions tab. See Track competitors.
