Track Google Play apps
Add an Android app by name or package name and track its Google Play keywords next to your App Store apps.
Since version 1.0.2, AppRankHero tracks Google Play apps too. An Android app works like an App Store app: keywords per country, ranks, popularity, difficulty, competitors, versions and reports.
Add an Android app
- Click Add Application at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Choose a Category, then choose Google Play under Store.
- Under Select App, click + Add and search by app name or package name, for example
com.example.app. The search uses the store of the first country you selected. - Select the app, choose its countries with the round +, and click + Add Application.
The app gets a Google Play label in its title row, so you can tell it apart from an App Store app with the same name.
What is different on Google Play
| App Store | Google Play | |
|---|---|---|
| Rank depth | Top 200 | Top 30 |
| Popularity | From the number of search results | From Google Play autocomplete |
| ASO fields | Name, Subtitle, Keywords, Promotional Text, Description | Title, Short description, Full description |
Why the depth and the scores differ is explained in How ranks are measured.
Good to know
- Google Play limits how fast anyone can search. When it pushes back, our workers pause Google Play for about a minute and continue. A refresh of many Android keywords can therefore take longer than the same refresh on the App Store.
- Google Play apps need AppRankHero 1.0.2 or later. Older versions of the Mac app do not show them. Update through App Rank Hero › Check for Updates…, see Automatic updates.
- Every Google Play country is supported, without regional add ons.
