Automatic updates

Since version 1.0.2, AppRankHero keeps itself up to date. You do not need to download new versions from the website.

How it works

• Once a day the app checks for a new version.
• When there is one, it downloads it in the background and shows you what is new.
• The update installs when you agree, or the next time you quit the app.

Updates are signed by us and notarized by Apple.

Check for an update now

Use either of these:

1. In the menu bar, open the App Rank Hero menu and choose Check for Updates….
2. Or open Settings in the sidebar, find App Updates under About, and click Check for updates. The row also shows the version you have, for example Version 1.0.4 (10).

Install an update by hand

If you are on version 1.0.1 or older, the app cannot update itself yet. Install the new version once by hand:

1. Quit AppRankHero.
2. Download the latest version from apprankhero.com/download.
3. Open the file and drag AppRankHero into Applications. Choose Replace when asked.
4. Open the app. Your data is in your account, so nothing is lost.

From then on, updates arrive automatically.

See what changed

Every release is listed in the changelog, newest first. You can follow it with the RSS feed.

Questions and answers

The app says updates are only available in the downloaded release build.

Automatic updates work in the app downloaded from apprankhero.com. A copy built or installed some other way does not update itself. Install the app from apprankhero.com/download.

Can I turn automatic checks off?

Not in the app at the moment. The daily check is small and only downloads when there is a new version.
